Step 1
To carry out a quick transfer of all operating system files, use the Acronis Disk Director program. In this case, you must use the ninth or newer version of the utility. Install this program on your computer and restart it, after connecting the hard drive to which you will copy the system partition.

To create a copy of a partition, you will need an unallocated area on the new hard drive. Those. if the entire hard disk space is occupied by local partitions, then delete some of them. Start the Acronis program and switch to advanced mode. Open the "Wizards" tab and select "Copy Section". In the new window, just click the Next button.
Step 3
Now select the unallocated area of the desired hard drive and click Next. Set the size of the new partition. If you do not make changes, it will be equal to the size of the original local disk with the operating system. Click the Next and Finish buttons to confirm the specified parameters.
Step 4
After returning to the main menu of the program, select the "Changes" tab and click on the "Apply Changes" item. Click the "Yes" button and wait for the program to finish running. Check the activity of the created partition using any available file manager.
Step 5
If you are copying files from Windows Seven or Vista operating systems, be sure to create a copy of the boot partition. It contains the files required to start the system. It usually appears as a separate local disk, which is 100 MB in size.

If after trying to boot Windows from a new disk, the computer gives an error, then insert the installation disk of this system and select the "Startup Repair" menu. This is necessary for automatic editing of the boot partition files.
