Any version of the Windows operating system, unlike other platforms, with constant use of a standard set of programs fills the registry, thereby reducing the amount of free space. This can lead to severe defragmentation of the file system (poor system performance due to cluttered files).

Instructions

Step 1

When the system partition is full, the efficiency of the entire computer decreases. The easiest way out of this situation is to try to move some of the programs to another logical disk, unless, of course, there is no way to repartition the hard disk partitions.

Step 2

You can use the Steam Mover to move programs. It only works with NTFS hard drives. The preference is given to the next generation operating systems - Windows Vista and Windows Seven. This utility can be easily downloaded from the Internet, for example, from traynier.com/software.

Step 3

The program can be downloaded absolutely free of charge, and it does not require installation, it is launched by double-clicking the left mouse button. After starting this utility, a window will appear in front of you, which is divided into 2 parts. Each part of the main window contains all the settings and you cannot get confused in them: in the left part you need to specify the copied folder with the program, and in the right part the destination folder.

Step 4

To move several programs, you must select several folders and press the button with the "right arrow". A new window will appear in front of you, in which the moving process will take place. It should be noted that the process itself takes from a few seconds to several minutes (depending on the configuration of the computer).

Step 5

After the operation of moving the folders with programs is completed, open the folder in which the programs were installed. Instead of the usual directories, you will see links leading to the new location of the program directories.

Step 6

If some program, after its launch, does not work correctly, you can move it back to the original directory: select the program and click on the button with the "left arrow".

Step 7

In addition, the program can be used if there is a need for free disk space on the system disk. After performing the necessary operations, the programs can be returned to their original place.
