Each graphic file has a size calculated by two parameters: the size of the file itself and the size of the image resolution. Without visual loss of quality, you can reduce both the volume of the photo and the resolution.

Step 1
To change the volume, it is required to "degrade" the quality of the picture or picture, but this "deterioration" will not be noticeable when viewed on the screen or in printed form. The format and quality level (quality), which is measured in percentage, are responsible for the quality of a computer image.

Also, super-high resolutions on ordinary monitors are also useless - therefore it makes no sense to use as wallpaper or store images in your home photo archive with a resolution of, for example, 6000x8000 pixels, if the screen resolution is 1920x1280. Naturally, high resolution allows you to enlarge small objects in the photo, but if you are not jammed with computer graphics professionally, the image resolution can also be reduced to free up space on the computer's hard disk.
Step 2
Paint. NET program. Paint. NET is not a product that comes with Windows, unlike the standard Paint editor. Paint. NET can be downloaded absolutely free on the Internet, while the program is constantly updated, supports the Russian language and has a pleasant interface. The Paint. NET distribution is about 100 times lighter than the Adobe Photoshop distribution, so the program downloads quickly and takes up almost no disk space.
Step 3
After starting Paint. NET, drag the graphic file into the working window of the program. The picture will open in the editor. To change the resolution, select "Image" - "Resize" in the upper menu of the program. In the window that appears, adjust the resolution of the new image to your liking. Don't forget to check the box next to "Maintain aspect ratio". After entering the desired resolution, click “OK”.
Step 4
Now we need to change the image format and the “quality” level. To do this, select everything in the same top menu "File" - "Save As". Enter a name for the new file and select the file type “JPEG”, then click “OK”.
A pop-up window will appear asking you to specify the quality. On the right, you will see how the image quality (preview) changes visually, as well as the final file size. As you can see, there is practically no difference between the quality of 100% and 95% in JPEG format and this saves disk space. After setting the quality level, click "Save". The image is saved.
