You have an ADSL modem installed through which you connect to your Internet provider. You need to change the modem settings. To do this, as you know, you need to connect to the modem using its IP address. If you have forgotten the address, information about it can be found on your computer.
Instructions
Step 1
Make sure the modem is turned on and connected to your computer's network card. Try to connect to the modem at the standard address. It must be specified in the instructions for the modem or in the contract with your provider, if you received the modem from him.
Step 2
If the address cannot be found, assume that the IP address of the modem is 192.168.1.1. This is the standard address set by the manufacturers of the vast majority of these devices. Launch your browser, type in the address. If you guessed correctly, a connection to the modem will occur and the modem settings window will open in the browser. But it doesn't always work out that way.
Step 3
Try to get information about the IP address of your modem from the command line. Click on the "Start" button, select "Run". In the window that opens, type cmd (all Latin letters), click "OK". A black console window will open to communicate with the operating system from the command line. Different teams can help you depending on the situation. It takes a long time to deal with the situation, and it is not necessary. It's easier to type commands and see if it worked or not. All letters in the commands are in Latin, you do not need to type quotes. The commands are safe, they only ask for information to be displayed without changing anything.
Step 4
Type "arp -a" and press Enter. If the following lines appear on the screen:
Interface: 192.168.1.2 --- 0x2
IP Address Physical Address Type
192.168.1.1 00-1f-a4-7b-77-2c dynamic
then the numbers at the beginning of the third line are the desired IP address of your modem.
Step 5
Type "ipconfig / all" and press Enter. Many lines with different information will appear on the screen:

Computer name: home-5q1i4841r5
Default gateway: 192.168.1.1
You need the default gateway line - it will most likely contain the IP address of your modem.
Step 6
After receiving the address, try again to connect to the modem through the browser, as in step 1, and change the settings.
