When working with a personal computer, it is necessary to understand its interface and basic functionality, as well as be able to cope with unexpected and unplanned problems. One of these problems for novice PC users is the disappearance of any elements from the desktop, for example, the "Trash" icon, which can be accidentally deleted by the user at any time.

Step 1
If for some reason you deleted the Trash from your desktop, you can restore it using several methods. Open the Start menu and select the Run section. Enter the gpedit.msc command in the window that appears and press enter.
Step 2
In the menu of GPOs that appears, select User Configuration, and then select Administrative Templates and Desktop. You will see an option on the right side of the menu "Remove Trash Icon from Desktop" - change the option settings to "Not Configured" and then click OK. Restart your computer - the trash can icon should be back in place.
Step 3
If changing the setting did not help, open the Run section again in the Start menu and type regedit in the line. Press enter and open the system registry editor. Navigate to the following path: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerHideDesktopIconsNewStartPanel.
Step 4
Set parameter {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} to "0". If you changed the style of the Start menu from Standard to Classic, you need the path: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerHideDesktopIconsClassicStartMenu.
Step 5
In the window that opens, set the following parameter to a zero value: DWORD {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}.

There is another way to return the trash can icon through the registry - in an open registry editor, go to the address: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerDesktopNameSpace.
Step 7
Create a new subsection in the section that opens by right-clicking and selecting create a new section from the menu. You need the following partition value: {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}. In the Default setting, change the value to Recycle Bin.
