Some Windows users are pretty familiar with annoying system update reminders. However, few of them know how to get rid of these alerts, which is actually quite a simple task.
Instructions
Step 1
First, remember that turning off automatic updates can rob you of new add-ons that can protect your computer. If you nevertheless decide to deactivate them, then find the shortcut "My Computer" on the desktop and right-click on the shortcut. If it is not on the "Desktop", click the "Start" button and perform similar actions. After clicking in the drop-down window with one click with the left mouse button, select the "Control" menu. In the window that appears, find the "Services and Applications" directory. This directory contains the Services subdirectory, which contains the entire list of possible services for the Windows operating system.
Step 2
Click on it once with the left mouse button. In the right window, find the service "Automatic Updates". Double-click the left mouse button, in the window that appears, find the heading "Startup type" and select "Disabled" from the drop-down list. Then click OK. Do the same with the Windows Firewall / Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service. After all the steps taken, restart your computer for the steps to take effect.
Step 3
There is also a shorter way to eliminate annoying alerts. Click the Start button. With one click of the left mouse button, go to the "Control Panel" menu. Find the "Automatic Updates" shortcut. Double click the left mouse button. In the window that opens, select "Disable automatic updates" and click the OK button. Do the same with the Windows Firewall shortcut. Then restart your computer. If you still have difficulties in completing the listed points, then call the wizard, who will do everything at the highest level in a matter of seconds, and the little shields in the system tray will not bother you anymore.
