The user interface of the new Windows 8 operating system is quite unusual. There is no standard "Start" menu from which you can access all the software installed on your computer. So a user who has just received a laptop with a G8 does not even know where to find the control panel.

All the work of a computer is controlled by a large and complex package of various programs and system libraries, which is called an "operating system". Developers create not only the OS themselves ("axis" on the professional argo of system administrators), but also constantly release updates that improve the system's performance, as well as their new versions. Each version represents a further development of the software, and the "axis" becomes better, more perfect, and working with it - safer.

Windows: from version to version

Before the advent of graphical operating systems, users only knew control through the command line, that is, the interface was text-based. The programs had a rather poor appearance, and working on a computer running DOS (Disk Operating System) was difficult and required a large baggage of special knowledge and skills. The first truly graphical operating system from Microsoft has revolutionized the computer-to-user experience. It was the famous Windows'95.

Working with a computer has become much easier and more convenient, so any housewife who has managed to understand the new interface has an opportunity to communicate with it. However, it turned out to be not so difficult, and the developers, inspired by the success of their brainchild, one after another created several new versions, both for professional needs and for general use.

Some of the new versions differed slightly from the previous ones, and the transition to them was painless. But Windows Vista turned out to be very unusual, and a flurry of criticism fell upon it. Windows 7 has become very successful so far, even after the termination of support announced in the near future, has largely retained the features of the Vista interface, and now it's the turn for a new trend - Windows 8.

Windows 8 - the next step towards excellence

The interface of the new system is fundamentally different from all previous Microsoft products, and therefore it may seem extremely unusual, which, in fact, corresponds to the truth. There is no familiar from the previous versions of the Start menu - it was replaced by a convenient start screen, on which icons of frequently used applications are placed in the form of beautiful animated tiles, only you need to place them there, unlike the automatic Start menu, you need to manually. And all programs installed on the computer remain hidden. Including those that are called service and standard.

To find, for example, a very frequently used control panel, you need to right-click on an empty space on the start screen, and then click on the “All Programs” icon that appears at the bottom of the screen. In the list that appears with icons, you can also find the control panel.

A standard, painfully familiar desktop will open along with a control panel. Now you can easily make all the necessary settings and other manipulations and close the panel. By the way, the desktop in Windows 8 has not gone anywhere, but it exists as an application, which can also be accessed from the Start screen. It was left in the new system for reasons of compatibility of old familiar programs with the new operating system.
