You can resize a photo, reduce it or enlarge it, and also crop unnecessary ones to make an avatar or an element of a collage for a photomontage from a photo, using a variety of graphic editors, for example, Adobe Photoshop. However, many people find Photoshop too difficult to master, and in this case, the free and easy-to-use program XNView will help you to change the size and borders of the photo.
Instructions
Step 1
Install and run the program, and then open the photo you want to change in it. If you just want to reduce the photo to a certain size and crop it, for example, in order to optimize it for posting on the Internet, open the "Picture" tab in the menu and select "Canvas Size".
Step 2
In the screen size settings, specify the desired height and width, and then, by clicking the corresponding button on the panel below, select which side of the image will be used for cropping. Thus, you can reduce the photo to the desired resolution by cropping the image from the right, left or corner of the photo.
Step 3
You can also crop the photo at random. This method is suitable for those who want to cut out part of the image for an avatar or icon. Use the mouse cursor to find the direction point in the upper left corner of the photo and, while holding the mouse button, drag this point to the lower right corner. You will see a rectangular frame move around the photo.
Step 4
Move this frame and resize it so that it limits the part of the photo you want. Right-click on the outlined area and select the "Crop" option from the drop-down menu.
Step 5
In order to shrink or stretch the photo to any size, open the "Picture" tab in the menu again and select "Resize". In the "height" and "width" field, specify the arbitrary dimensions that you need, and click OK.
Step 6
If you have compressed a photo, it may lose some of its sharpness. To bring your photos back into sharpness, open the "Filter" tab and click on the "Effects" button. Select the "Detail Detail", "Edge Work" or "Focus Enhancer" filter.
