Instructions
Step 1
Windows users are already familiar with how the Windows folders with installed images look, using the example of such folders as “My Documents”, “My Pictures”, “My Videos”, “My Music”. In some cases, it becomes necessary to select some other important folder in this way.
Step 2
To change the picture of a folder in Windows XP, right-click on it and select Properties from the context menu. In the window that opens, click the "Settings" tab. Here you can customize the folder view for two modes: thumbnail view and other modes.
Step 3
Setting up a thumbnail view is very simple - click the "Select Picture" button and select the picture you want to insert. It is recommended to find images with the *.
Step 4
To put a picture for other viewing modes on the folder, select the "Change icon" item at the bottom of the window. You can use one of the existing icons or install your own. Remember that in this case you only need icon icons - that is, images with the *.ico extension. In the Windows 7 operating system, changing the folder image is the same.
Step 5
For comfortable work in Windows, it is recommended to configure the correct display of Windows folders. In particular, the display of file extensions must be enabled - it is usually disabled by default. If the user sees file extensions, he will be able to timely notice some security threats. For example, if you see an image or a folder with the *.exe extension, then you see an infected file. Without seeing the extension, you can try to open such a file.
Step 6
It is very easy to enable the display of extensions: open any disk or folder, select in the menu "Tools" - "Folder Options" - "View" and uncheck the box next to "Hide extensions for registered file types".
