Computer images are divided into two fundamentally different types - raster and vector. Each of them has its own characteristics, advantages and disadvantages. Vector drawing can be enlarged without loss of quality to any required size - this is its main advantage. But raster images are capable of transmitting the finest light and color transitions, volume, and everything that distinguishes a photographic image from a drawing. Sometimes you need to convert a vector image to a bitmap.
Instructions
Step 1
To convert a vector image to a bitmap in Adobe Illustrator, open the source file. Set the image to the required size, in which you will use it in future work. Then choose File> Export. In the dialog box that opens, select the location of the converted file and enter its name. From the list of formats in the Save As Format (Windows) or Format (Mac OS) drop-down menu, select the format you want (JPEG, TIFF, or other) to save. Click "Save".
Step 2
In the export options window that opens, select the color model, quality level, resolution, and other image conversion parameters. If the image is going to be used on the Web, then make it as light as possible. Use the RGB color model, 72 dpi resolution, and Basic (Standard) method, which is recognized by most web browsers.

To optimize the image for the web, Adobe Illustrator has a special feature. Open the vector art file and choose File> Save For Web & Devices. Choose the format you want to convert the file to and adjust the settings for various parameters to achieve the optimal combination of image quality and image size.

There is also an alternative method for rasterizing an image using CorelDraw. Open the original vector file, choose File> Export. In the dialog box that opens, specify the location of the file and enter its name, select the format you need. Press the "Export" button and in the opened parameters window set the resolution, size (you can enlarge the image right here to the desired size, while maintaining the proportions) and other parameters. Finally, click "OK".

Another convenient way to convert vector images into raster images is to use the free on-line resource Filespazz.com. It can be used to convert CorelDraw files to EPS format, various graphic formats and other versions of CorelDraw files. To do this, on the specified site, you must fill out a form - indicate the path to the source file on your computer, the format into which you want to convert this file and your e-mail. The finished file will be sent to you within five minutes.
