When working with numerical data in Excel, it is very often necessary to arrange them. This allows you to present information in the most user-friendly form.
Before you carry out the ordering (sorting) of numbers in Excel, you need to make sure that they are all written in the correct format. Otherwise, the result may turn out to be either incorrect, or the command will be unavailable, allowing you to perform the ordering.
Formats that allow for ascending and descending ordering: general, numeric, financial, monetary.
You can check the format of the cells as follows: right-click on the required range and select the "Format Cells" command in the context menu that appears.
First way to arrange numbers in ascending order in Excel
The original table contains: the name of the employee, his position and experience.
It is required to arrange the data according to the length of service - from the smallest to the largest.
To do this, select the range of numbers that you want to order. In our case, this will be the D3: D8 range.
Next, you need to click on any cell from the range with the right mouse button. In the context menu, select "Sort" -> "Sort from minimum to maximum".
A warning may be issued about the presence of data near the specified range. Among the proposed actions, select "Sort within the specified selection" and click on the "Sort" button.
As a result, the data will be sorted, and the employee with the least work experience will be displayed in the first place.
Second way to arrange numbers in ascending order in Excel
The first action will be the same as in the first method - you need to select the range of numbers that you want to sort.
Then on the toolbar in the "Home" section, click on the "Sort & Filter" button. A submenu will appear in which you need to select the command "Sort from minimum to maximum".
This command will allow you to order numbers in ascending order.
