Instructions

Step 1

Working with headers and footers in the Microsoft Office Word editor begins with the Insert tab. Find the section "Headers and footers" on the toolbar and select the area you want to style by clicking on the corresponding button - "Header" or "Footer". In the drop-down list, select the layout that suits you or the Change Header / Footer command.

Step 2

You can also access headers and footers by right-clicking on the field in the document and selecting the required command from the context menu. To exit the mode of editing headers and footers, double-click the left mouse button in the working area of the document.

Step 3

To ensure that headers and footers appear throughout the document without them on the title page, click the Page Layout (Page Layout) tab. In the Page Setup section, click the arrow button to open the Page Setup dialog box. Go to the tab "Paper Source" and set the marker in the "First Page" field in the "Distinguish Headers and Footers" group. Click on the OK button.

Step 4

To create different headers and footers for odd and even pages, also go to the Page Layout tab and call the Page Setup dialog from the section of the same name. In the window that opens, go to the "Paper Source" tab and set the marker in the "Distinguish Headers and Footers" group opposite the "Even and Odd Pages" item.

Step 5

To make different headers and footers for different pages, divide your document into sections. To do this, go to the Page Layout tab and in the Page Setup section click the Insert Page and Section Breaks button. In the drop-down menu, select the appropriate section break option.

Step 6

Make active the header you want to change (see step one and step two). You will switch to the headers and footers editing mode, and the context menu on the "Headers and Footers" tab will also become available. Click on the "Transitions" button and, using the available buttons, move through the section headers and footers, arranging them in accordance with your needs. In doing so, make sure that the button "As in the previous section" is not active.
