The Microsoft Office Word word processor offers users a simple and intuitive interface for working with documents. After getting used to this simplicity, users sometimes get stumped when trying to complete basic tasks. For example, not everyone will immediately figure out how to remove headers and footers in Word.
Necessary
Word processor Microsoft Office Word 2007 or 2010
Instructions
Step 1
Load the document you are editing into Word and go to the Insert tab on the word processor menu. In the "Headers and Footers" group of commands, expand the "Header" drop-down list. In it you need the second command from the bottom - "Remove header". Select it and on the first - title - page this field will disappear.
Step 2
If there is also a footer at the bottom of the page, open the drop-down list placed in the menu by the line below, select the same item in it - "Remove footer". These two operations may be enough for all the headers and footers to be removed by the word processor not only from the first page, but throughout the document. If this happens, then the operation can be considered complete, otherwise proceed to the next step.
Step 3
Scroll through the document to the second page and click anywhere on it. Then repeat the first step if the page has a header, and the second if there is a footer too. In this way, you will remove both types of headers and footers from the even-numbered pages of the entire document. The fact is that Microsoft Word allows you to set a separate layout for even, odd and title pages. With the steps described above, you have freed one title page and all even-numbered pages from this design element. If this option was fully used when creating the document that you are editing, then you will have to make a visit to the next, odd page as well.
Step 4
Go to the third or any other odd page of the document and repeat the operations from the first and second steps.
Step 5
Do not forget to save the document with the changes made to it - it will be very disappointing to find out the next time you load the document into the word processor that all these simple, but completely uncreative manipulations must be repeated again.
