Working with electronic documents in Word format for many people has long been one of their job responsibilities. And despite the fact that, it would seem, all the options of this program are already known, PC users may have difficulties where they are not expected at all. It's about how you can remove headers and footers in different versions of Word.

Instructions

Step 1

Headers and footers represent the numbering of pages (they are needed in the design of theses, term papers, abstracts, etc.). At the moment, one of the most common versions of the program is Word 2003 and Word 2007 release. The algorithms of actions in these two different versions have a lot in common, but still differ from each other. So if Word 2003 is installed on your computer, double-click on the page number of the document, or click on it once with the right mouse button. Usually headers and footers disappear after that.

Step 2

Go to the menu in the "View" section and in the panel that opens, click "Headers and Footers". Select Header (or Footer) and then Delete, then all headers and footers in the document will be deleted as well.

Step 3

To remove headers and footers in a 2007 document, go to the Insert menu and then to the Header and Footer group. Use the Header and Footer buttons whichever you do not need. For example, select "Header" and click "Remove Header". Immediately after that, all the headers of the document will be removed.

Step 4

If you need to remove the number on the title page of the document, go to the "File" menu item, select "Page Setup", where you will need to find the "Paper Source" tab. Check the "Distinguish first page headers and footers" line.

Step 5

Try another option: select Page Setup from the Layout section of the general menu. Click the Paper Source tab and check the Distinguish First Page Headers and Footers check box. After that, the number on the first (title) page will be absent.
