In the process of working in Microsoft Excel, sometimes it becomes necessary to copy a formula into one or several cells. In this case, you need to move it with all links and formatting elements.

Instructions

Step 1

When you move a formula, keep in mind that the links contained in it will not change. Accordingly, you will not be able to use the formula algorithm with new data. To move the desired formula, select the cell in which it is located. Then click on the "Home" tab in the top menu and select "Clipboard" on the left side. In the "Clipboard" area, find the "Cut" button and click on it. The cell is immediately highlighted with a dotted line.

Step 2

If you want to insert not only the formula, but also its formatting elements, click on an empty cell, then select the Home tab and the Clipboard section. Then click on "Insert". If you only move the formula, click not on the "Insert" button itself, but on the arrow next to it. In the list of commands that appears, select Paste Special and the Formulas link.

Step 3

You can also use the functions of the cell itself to cut and paste the formula. Select the formula you want, click on the upper left corner of the cell and drag it to the area where you want to insert the formula. All relevant data will be completely moved.

Step 4

When copying a formula, a similar algorithm of actions is used, only with some deviations. Select the cell with the formula and in the "Clipboard" section use the "Copy" button. When pasting a formula in another cell, click either the Paste function or the arrow next to it and select Paste Special and Formulas. If you only want to insert its value, select Values in the same section.

Step 5

Be sure to check that the formula copied into the new cell gives the desired result. If not, change the link type. To do this, click on the current cell, then select the link that needs to be changed, and use F4 to assign its type.
