On the net you can find a lot of very beautiful wallpapers for your computer. There are entire sites specializing in collecting, cataloging and distributing such images. Having picked up one (or a whole set) of images, you will need to replace the old "wallpaper" of the desktop.

Instructions

Step 1

In Windows XP, you need to open the display properties window - right-click on a free space on the desktop and select Properties from the context menu.

Step 2

Then go to the "Desktop" tab and select the desired picture in one of two possible options: - you can select any picture in the "Wallpaper" list; - you can click the "Browse" button and find on your computer a graphic file that you more likely.

Step 3

After the desired picture for the desktop background is selected, all that remains is to fix the changes made in the settings of your operating system by clicking the "OK" button.

Step 4

Alternatively, first launch Windows Explorer by pressing CTRL + E or double-clicking on the My Computer icon.

Step 5

Then, navigating through the folder tree in the left pane of the explorer, find the picture you need and right-click on it. In the context menu, select Set as Desktop Background. This completes the procedure. This method is also valid for Windows Vista and Windows 7 (except for the "initial" version), but there the item in the context menu is named slightly differently - "Set as background".

Step 6

For Windows Vista and Windows 7 (except for the "Starter" version), the steps will be different. First, just like in Windows XP, right-click on an empty space on the desktop, but in the context menu you need to select "Personalize".

Step 7

Then select Desktop Wallpaper from the list of settings.

Step 8

Then select a picture from the list, or click the "Browse" button and find the image file you need.

Step 9

Finally, click the "OK" button to commit the changes made to the OS settings.

Step 10

The Windows 7 Starter version does not support changing the desktop background. You can do this with the help of various tweaker programs, of which there are quite a few on the net. For example, a very small and unpretentious utility called Starter Wallpaper Changer. It does not require installation, just run the downloaded file, click the "Browse" button, select the desired picture on your computer and click the "Apply" button. Changes will take effect after OS reboot.
