The abundance of free graphic content today opens up ample opportunities for amateur creativity in the field of creating humorous collages. Most of these works today are created on the basis of small images cut from the main background. You can get such pictures using the raster graphics editor Adobe Photoshop.

Instructions

Step 1

Open the image you want to cut in Adobe Photoshop. Click on the File item in the main menu, and then click on the "Open …" item. Alternatively, use the keys Ctrl + O. In the displayed dialog, select the desired file.

Step 2

If the size of the object to be cut is much smaller than the size of the entire image, simplify the processing. Crop with the Crop Tool. Alternatively, select the area with the object with the Rectangle Marquee Tool, copy it by pressing Ctrl + C, create a new document by pressing Ctrl + N and select the Clipboard setting in the Preset drop-down list of the New dialog, create a new document. Then paste the copied image into it by pressing Ctrl + V.

Step 3

Analyze the composition of the image and choose a method with which it will be more convenient to create a selection area around the cutout image. If the background on which the target object is located is sufficiently uniform, then it makes sense to select it. Otherwise, the object will be highlighted.

Step 4

Activate one of the tools of the Lasso group if the cut out picture has complex shapes. If the background or a uniform object stands out, try using the Quick Selection Tool or Magic Wand. Create a rough selection around the background or object.

Step 5

Switch to quick mask mode. Press Q on your keyboard or the Edit in Quick Mask Mode button on the toolbar. Click on the Brush element in the top toolbar. Select a brush that is convenient for editing the mask (at the same time, adjust its diameter, hardness and translucency by setting the Diameter, Hardness and Opacity parameters). Adjust the selection in mask mode. Choose white or black foreground color for border modification. Exit mask mode by pressing Q.

Step 6

Cut out the picture from the background. If the background was not the object, press Ctrl + Shift + I or select the Select and Inverse items from the menu. Press Ctrl + C. The contents of the selection will be placed on the clipboard. Press Ctrl + N. Select Clipboard in the Preset list of the New dialog and click OK. Paste content into a new document. Press Ctrl + V.

Step 7

Save the picture to a file. Press Ctrl + S or select "Save…" from the File menu. Enter the required parameters. Click the Save button.
