Everyone who is engaged in photomontage and photo editing in Photoshop from time to time knows how important it is for a Photoshop user to have the proven skill of cutting out certain objects from the background, as well as replacing the previous image background with any other. Different backgrounds work for different purposes, and sometimes you want to see how your image will look on a regular black background. Placing a drawing or figure of a person on a plain black background in Photoshop is very simple - you only need to perform a few steps to do this.
Instructions
Step 1
Open the image where you want to replace the original background with a black fill. Create a duplicate layer (Duplicate layer) and make the layer with the original image invisible by clicking the eye icon on the layer image in the palette.
Step 2
Now select the Background eraser tool from the toolbar, set the eraser to the size appropriate for your image, select a sufficient hardness and in the Tolerance line set the value to 40%.
Step 3
After that, carefully start erasing the background around your object by first hovering your mouse cursor over it with an eraser and right-clicking. Once you've removed the main areas of the background, reduce the brush size and hardness to cut the background colors more neatly along the silhouette of your subject.
Step 4
Having completely removed the background around the object, select the Fill tool from the toolbar and, creating a new layer, fill the area cleared from the background with black. Zoom in on the image and examine it closely for any shortcomings in the background area precleaning.
Step 5
If you see dots and spots left over from the previous background, take the background eraser again and go over all the unwanted spots.
Step 6
As you can see, creating a simple black background is not at all difficult, and if you need it, you can replace it with another background image at any time.
