Step 1
TuneUp Utilities is a very good choice for editing a theme. Download this application and install it on your computer. A reboot may be required after installation. Launch the application and wait for the scanning process to finish. After that, a dialog box will ask you to fix the errors. Click Fix.
Step 2
You are now in the main menu of the program. Select "Windows Settings", and in it - the line "Windows Personalization". In the lower window, click on the line "Visual style". A list of possible visual styles will appear. Review them and select the one you want. If from the visual styles nothing suits you or there is only one, the current visual style, then click on the "Add" line. Now if you have visual styles files saved on your computer, you can add them. If not, click on the "Download from the Internet" line.

You can also change the appearance of the icons. To do this, click on the line "Icon view" and through the line "Icon interval" edit their size and appearance.

If you want to edit system icons, click on the System Items tab. Now select the desired icon from the list and in the upper window of the program click on the "Replace Icon" command. You can edit or create your own icon pack. To do this, at the bottom of the same window, click on the line "Icon Packs". Then select "Create New Package". Next, use the wizard's prompts to create an icon pack of your choice.

If you want to change the appearance of the interface when logging in, click on the line "Login screen". If you click on the "New" line, an editor will appear to help you create your own login screen.
