Now there are a huge number of Internet providers that differ in the principle of communication with the global network and in the quantitative characteristics of the connection (data transmission speed, traffic restrictions, cost of services, etc.). However, the basic connection diagram remains practically the same for all providers. The differences are only in the sequence of actions that must be performed to connect the user himself.
Instructions
Step 1
To connect to the Internet via a high-speed ADSL connection, you must:
Find the shortcut of the connection on the Desktop (usually this is the name of the service provider or the name you specified when creating this connection), then double-click on it with the left mouse button. In the window that opens, click the "Connect" button.
Also, the connection service is usually found in the Start menu on the taskbar. To start the connection window, go to the "Start" menu, then select the "Connection" line. In the list that opens when you hover the mouse cursor over this line, you must select the connection you need. Then, in the window that opens, click the "Connect" button.
Step 2
When using a 3G modem (otherwise, a USB modem) to connect to the Internet, you must:
- Connect the modem to the USB port.
- Wait until the operating system detects the device connected to the computer.
- Launch the software that connects to the Internet. Usually, these programs are installed automatically the first time a USB modem is connected to the operating system. You can find this program on the Desktop or in the All Programs list from the Start menu. The name of the software must match the name of the service provider (for example, the name of the cellular operator).
- After starting the program, a request for a PIN code will appear, in which you must enter the code you received when registering this SIM card.
- If the PIN code is entered correctly, the main window of the connection program will appear. In this window, you must click the "Connect" button.
Step 3
When connecting to the Internet through a network hub (commonly referred to as a hub), you must remember that only one computer can connect directly to the Internet. The rest of the computers in the group should only have a connection to the host computer via the local network. In this case, the ip-addresses of computers should differ from each other by only one last digit (this ensures the interaction of computers with each other).
