The graphics editor Adobe Photoshop uses a standard set of system fonts. They are not always enough to arrange the image according to your own taste. For such cases, developers provide the ability to add custom fonts, and at first it is difficult for beginners to figure out how and where to install them.
Instructions
Step 1
Close the graphics editor and prepare the font files you want to add to Photoshop. Make sure to remember which folder they are in. If the fonts or fontsets were zipped, unzip the archives. Files must have the extension.otf or.ttf.
Step 2
Select "Control Panel" from the "Start" menu. A new dialog box will open. If the dashboard appears as categories, select Appearance and Themes. Pay attention to the small panel in the upper left part of the window - it displays additional folders in this category. Left-click on the "Fonts" icon. If the control panel has a classic look, select the "Fonts" folder right away.
Step 3
Navigate to the folder where the custom font files you want to add to Photoshop are located. Select the fonts you need, copy them to the clipboard. Switch to the previously opened Fonts folder and paste the copied files into it. After that, you can start the graphics editor and work with the new fonts.
Step 4
Remember that when you reinstall your system, only the standard set of fonts will remain in the Fonts folder. In order not to lose the newly installed custom samples, duplicate the folder with them on any disk other than the one on which the system is installed. If in the future you do not plan to use these fonts, you can delete the folder with them as well.
Step 5
To create a text box in Adobe Photoshop, select the Text tool by clicking the [T] button on the toolbar, or press Shift + T on your keyboard. Position the cursor on the canvas, drag in the text, select it and expand the list of font styles at the top window. Find the name of the newly loaded font in the list and click on it with the left mouse button - the font style of the selected text will change.
