Fonts in the graphics editor Adobe Photoshop are used not only for placing any inscriptions on the image. Some special fonts instead of letters contain, for example, sets of frames, company logos, road signs, or even cartoon characters. You can use these fonts in the same way as standard ones, and adding a new font to the Photoshop collection is not difficult.
Instructions
Step 1
To install an additional font in Adobe Photoshop, the graphics editor itself is not required, so you do not even need to launch it. If you are using one of the latest versions of Windows - Vista or Seven - the easiest way to do all the necessary operations is using the standard file manager - "Explorer". Start this application by double clicking on the "Computer" object on the system desktop.
Step 2
Navigate the directory tree in the left pane of the application to the folder where the file with the font is stored and right-click on it. The context menu, which will appear on the screen as a result, for all files with font extensions (ttf, otf) contains an additional item - "Install". Select it, and the procedure can be considered complete.
Step 3
In earlier versions of Windows, it is better to use the standard method of installing fonts - through one of the Control Panel components. Expand the OS main menu and launch this panel by selecting the item with this name. In the window that opens, first click the "Appearance and Themes" link, and then - "Fonts". A new window will open, where you need to select in different fields first the disk that contains the file with the new font, then the folder, and then the name of the font - after scanning the folder, it will appear in the upper field of the window. If you need to install multiple fonts, select all of them. Then click OK and the installation process will begin. Upon completion, the new font will become available in the graphical editor.
Step 4
When Adobe programs are installed on a computer, they create a separate storage on the system disk, which is used only by the applications of this manufacturer. There is also a special folder for fonts in this repository. If you intend to use the new font only in Photoshop, place it in this directory. To get to it, first open the system drive in Explorer, then the Program Files folder, then the Common Files placed in it, then Adobe and finally Fonts. You just need to copy or move the required file here so that it is found by the graphical editor and added to the list.
