Windows OS with default settings requires a user to be selected and a password to enter the system. If this does not happen on your computer, it means that the corresponding settings of the security policy have been changed. It is possible to cancel automatic login, restore the display of the welcome window and the user authorization dialog at computer startup.
Instructions
Step 1
Log in and open the Run Program dialog. To do this, open the main menu on the "Start" button by clicking it with the mouse or by pressing the WIN button, and select the "Run" item. You can replace these manipulations by pressing the WIN + R hotkeys assigned to this action by default.
Step 2
In the entry field of the program launch dialog, type a two-word command: control userpasswords2. You can copy them from here by selecting and pressing the CTRL + C keys, and paste them into the dialog box by clicking it with the mouse and pressing the CTRL + V combination. Then press the Enter key or the "OK" button. If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, the command can be replaced with netplwiz, but it will not work in Windows XP.
Step 3
Check the checkbox next to the "Require username and password", which is placed above the list with the heading "Users of this computer". This list is located on the Users tab of the User Accounts window opened by your actions in the previous step. Then click the "OK" button.
Step 4
Set a password for authorization when logging in. To do this, you need to open the Control Panel in the menu on the "Start" button and click on the link "User Accounts" in it. Then, in the Select a Job section, click Change Account. On the next page, you will be asked to select a user to edit his settings - select your account, and then click the Create Password link. In the upper text field for entering the dialog that opens, enter the password, in the second, confirm it, and in the third, enter a phrase that can help you remember it. Then press the button "Create password" and the procedure will be completed.
