One of the advantages of the Nero Burning Rom software package is the virtual disk function. It is called Nero Image Drive and creates another drive in the system. That is, you can create disc images, including those with games. This allows you to install games from images mounted to a virtual disk drive.
Instructions
Step 1
Nero Image Drive works with disc image files in its own *.nrg format and with the *.iso extension. That is, the files must be created by this program, or be standard *.iso files. This utility will not cope with images of other formats. Strictly speaking, Nero's built-in burner and drive emulation software has few advantages over proprietary solutions. But in cases where a software package from Nero has already been paid for, it makes sense to use its virtual disk drive.
Step 2
To activate Image Drive in Windows XP, open the Control Panel. To do this, click the "Start" button and select "Control Panel". Double-click the icon labeled Image Drive. A settings window will open, in which check the box "Mount images at boot", and also check the box "Allow drive" under the option "First drive". Click the Apply button and wait about a minute. After that, click "OK" and restart your computer so that a new virtual disk drive appears in the system.
Step 3
Windows 7 and Windows Vista users must launch the Nero StartSmart to activate Image Drive. Then go to the "Add-ons" tab and click the "Mount disk image" button. A settings window will appear, the same as in the previous step - check the boxes in the same items and restart your computer.
Step 4
After restarting your computer, open My Computer to make sure there are one more disks than before.
Step 5
Launch Nero StartSmart, go to the new "Virtual Drive / Image Drive" tab, select the "Open Image" button and select the file with the image of the game you want to install. Usually, after a few seconds, the game's auto-installer window appears. If not, open your virtual disk drive through "My Computer" and start the installation of the desired game.
