Step 1
Initially, the sidebar is an innovation of Windows Vista, in subsequent versions of systems, clear boundaries of this type of panel no longer existed, since widgets could be placed in any free space. The sidebar is pretty quick to find on your computer's desktop: a vertical rectangular area containing useful add-ons (calendar, clock, weather forecast, etc.).

Using various add-ons, you can increase the functionality of this panel. For example, the right column may contain headlines of the latest news received from the Internet, as well as a weather forecast for several days. So this panel will become a small information channel for you.

If this application is not on the desktop, then it has not yet been launched. So open the Start menu, click on the All Programs section, go to the Accessories list and select Windows Sidebar. To permanently display it, go to its settings through the context menu, check the box next to the desired option.
Step 4
Unfortunately, not all full-screen applications are able to work correctly with this panel, some simply overlap it. To prevent this from happening, you must activate the blocking close option. Click the Start button and navigate to the Control Panel applet. In the window that opens, select Appearance and Personalization, and then Windows Sidebar Properties. Check the box next to "Sidebar always on top of other windows".

After making these changes, proceed to add some useful additions to the sidebar. This can be done both through the software of the panel itself, and through the Internet pages of some services.
