All schoolchildren and all students from time to time write abstracts, which are an integral part of the study and allow the student to demonstrate a general set of knowledge on a particular topic in writing. In addition, the abstract shows the student's ability to organize and systematize information, determine the goals and objectives of the work, and work with sources, combining facts gleaned from different authors into one general abstract work. In order for the abstract to meet all the necessary requirements, you must know the rules for its preparation.

Instructions

Step 1

To begin with, determine the structure of your abstract - it should consist of a table of contents, an introduction, a main part consisting of chapters, a conclusion and a bibliography. If in the text you use quotations from books included in the bibliography, indicate their sources in the footnotes at the bottom of the pages. In the list of references for the work of this format, it is enough to indicate from 4 to 12 sources.

Step 2

The volume of the abstract should not exceed 15-20 A4 pages, excluding the title page, table of contents and attachments. Type your abstract in Times New Roman 14 point size, with one and a half line spacing. When printing, set the default margins in Microsoft Word.

Step 3

After the title page, which is not numbered, your abstract should alternate between the table of contents, introduction, main chapters and conclusion. The abstract ends with a list of references, and, if necessary, with appendices. Start each structural element of the abstract on a new page, highlighting the headings in bold. Some particularly important text fragments are recommended to be italicized.

Step 4

In the introduction, the volume of which is 1-1, 5 pages, highlight the topic of the abstract, describe the purpose of your work, the main meaning and tasks that you set for yourself. Then move on to chapters, which can be further subdivided into paragraphs.

Step 5

End each chapter with a conclusion. In the final part of the abstract, draw general conclusions and summarize. Its volume should be equal to the volume of administration.

Step 6

Each new thought begins with a red line, setting a paragraph in the document. Align the general text to the center of the page. Do not forget to number the pages of the abstract - the numbering can be placed both in the corner and in the middle of the top or bottom of the page. Number figures and tables if you have annexes to the abstract.

Step 7

The exact rules for the preparation of abstracts often differ in different educational institutions, so it is recommended to clarify them in each specific case. Check out the manual for the design of abstracts and similar works available at your university.
