By overlaying a photo with a background image, you can not only get a beautifully designed photo, but also enhance the impression made by the photo. To create such a collage, you need to change the size, position of the photo and style it using layer styles. All these operations can be done in the graphics editor Photoshop.

Necessary

  • - Photoshop program;
  • - Photo;
  • - background picture.

Instructions

Step 1

You can use a suitable image as a background for a photo. For the decoration of a photo taken during a summer vacation, a picture with a landscape without attention-grabbing details is suitable. A background imitating a child's drawing will help give the photo a playful mood. If there are no suitable images on your computer, you can search for them in free photo banks.

Step 2

Load the background image into Photoshop using the Open option of the File menu. Insert the snapshot into the image document using the Place option from the same menu.

Step 3

If necessary, reduce the size of the photo by sliding the border around the edges so that the background is visible from under the photo. Using the same frame, you can rotate the picture. To do this, place the cursor outside the borders of the frame near one of the corners of the picture. Change the tilt of the picture by holding down the left mouse button. Press the Enter key to apply the transformation.

Step 4

The snapshot that you inserted into the document using the Place option has become a smart object. If you want to keep the ability to quickly replace an already framed photo, leave the layer in Smart Object mode. If you don't feel like it, apply the Convert to Layer option in the Smart Objects group of the Layer menu to the photo.

Step 5

Visually separate the image from the background. This can be done using the Drop Shadow and Stroke options in the Layer Style group of the Layer menu. Drop Shadow will simulate the shadow that the photo casts onto the background image. The Angle parameter adjusts the angle at which the light falls on the object giving the shadow. Using Distance, you can adjust the offset of the shadow, in other words, specify how far from your image the shaded surface is. The Spread value controls the hardness of the shadow edges, and the Size controls the size.

Step 6

Use the Stroke option to add a simple border to the photo. Select the Inside item in the Position list and adjust the size of the frame in the Size field. You can choose its color by clicking on the color sample in the option settings.

Step 7

If the layer with the snapshot is a smart object, you can replace the photo with another file using the Replace Contents option of the Smart Objects group. Drop shadows and strokes applied to the layer will be preserved across the image.

Step 8

Use the Save As option of the File menu to save the decorated image. If you plan to change the snapshot later, save the document in psd format. A.jpg"
