Windows Firewall is a combination of hardware and software that protects a system from unauthorized access from a WAN or LAN. It enhances the security of your computer by blocking "unexpected requests". If you've disabled your firewall, there are a few steps to restore it.
Instructions
Step 1
Log in to the system using the "Administrator" account. Open the "Control Panel" via the "Start" button. In the Network and Internet Connections category, click the Windows Firewall icon or select the Change Windows Firewall Settings task.
Step 2
In the window that opens, go to the "General" tab and set the marker in the "Enable (recommended)" field. This group provides the "Do not allow exceptions" option. When its box is marked with a marker, the firewall blocks all unauthorized requests to connect to the computer, including services contained in the Exceptions tab, as well as requests to access shared printers and network devices. After activating the firewall and setting additional parameters, click the OK button, the dialog box will close automatically.
Step 3
Sometimes it happens that the operating system fails to start the firewall service. This happens when the SharedAccess.reg file is damaged. There are several ways to fix this problem.
Step 4
Call the Setup API InstallHinfSection function. To do this, click the "Start" button and select the "Run" command from the menu. In the empty field of the window that opens, enter the cmd command without extra printable characters and press the OK button or the Enter key. In the new window, enter the command Rundll32 setupapi, InstallHinfSection Ndi-Steelhead 132% windir% inf
etrass.inf, press the Enter key and restart your computer.
Step 5
After rebooting, bring up the Run window again and resubmit the cmd command. At the command line, enter Netsh firewall reset and confirm the command with the Enter key. Open the Run window again and enter the firewall.cpl command. Then turn on Windows Firewall as described in the first two steps.
Step 6
Another method requires editing the entries in the registry editor. It is necessary to make changes to the registry very carefully, if you are not sure that you can handle it, it is better to just reinstall the operating system. As a rule, reinstallation with a full format of the hard drive helps. Installing a system on top of an existing one sometimes does not bring the desired result.
