This simple procedure can help with various "glitches", slow work with the card, and it will help with an excess of unnecessary information. Sometimes it is easier to format the card, preserving the necessary information in advance, than to delete unnecessary accumulated garbage for a long time. Sometimes, even before using the card after purchase, it is required to format it so that the device that will work with it can correctly perceive the card.

Step 1
Insert the card into the card reader, connect the card reader to the USB port of your computer.
Open My Computer. A new disk will appear in the disk list window - this is your card.
Step 2
Open the map by double-clicking the left mouse button. Copy or transfer all the information you need that is now on the map. After formatting, all information that was previously contained on the card will be destroyed.
Step 3
Open the My Computer folder again.
Right click on your map image. A dropdown menu will appear. In this menu, select the item "formatting". A window with formatting options will open. For cards larger than 2GB, it makes sense to change only the "volume label" item. You can write a name for your card there. For smaller maps, it is desirable to change the file system. In the drop-down menu of this item, select the FAT system, or FAT 16.
After that, you can press the "start" button. Do not interrupt the formatting process. After its completion, the system will display the "Formatting completed" window. Only then can you turn off the card reader and start using the card.
