If your computer fan makes a lot of noise, then this may indicate that it is faulty. However, if the fan is in order, then it is spinning too much. Anyone who knows how to handle a soldering iron can independently regulate the speed of the cooler.

Instructions

Step 1

The cooler speed controller circuit is quite simple and contains three electronic components. These are resistor, variable resistor and transistor. This circuit regulates the voltage supplied to the cooler motor. By doing this, we also change the fan speed.

Step 2

A special constant resistor is introduced into the speed controller circuit. Its job is to limit the minimum fan speed to ensure reliable start-up even at the lowest speed. If this resistor was not there, an inexperienced user could set the voltage too low, at which the fan would continue to spin at low speeds. But the next time the computer was turned on, it would not have started.

Step 3

Now let's talk about the installation and connection of the cooler speed controller. It is connected to the break in the red power supply wire of the fan (+ 12V circuit). If the cooler has four leads (black, green, blue and yellow), then the regulator should be included in the break of the already yellow wire.

Step 4

The assembled speed controller can be installed anywhere in the system unit. To do this, we drill a hole with the diameter of the variable resistor we use, insert the resistor into the hole and tighten it with a special nut that comes with the resistor in the kit. We can put a convenient handle on the axis of our variable resistor.

Step 5

Note that if we have a very hot regulator transistor, we will need to install it on a small radiator. This role can be played by a piece of copper or aluminum plate 3x2 cm in 2-3 mm thick. However, practice shows that if a standard computer cooler is connected to the speed controller, the need for a radiator will disappear, since the transistor experiences only slight heating.
