Surely, when listening to karaoke, you thought about how the karaoke versions of songs, that is, "backing tracks", are actually obtained. The answer, it would seem, is simple - you need to cut out the vocals. However, in practice, this is much more difficult to implement. There are karaoke tracks that were originally created "silent". They are usually in midi format, quite simple and not very expressive sounding. The second way to create backing tracks is to minimize the audibility of vocals in a full song. This can be done using special programs such as Adobe Audition.

Step 1
You need a plugin called Center Channel Extractor. If you have one of the latest versions of Adobe Audition, you do not have to download the plugin separately - it is already included in the standard program package. It is worth noting that you can hardly achieve the ideal sound quality of the backing track, because when creating songs, while recording a vocal part, sound engineers use various effects.

So, open Adobe Audition, then drag the track selected to create the "minus" track with the left mouse button held down on the shortcut of the executable file into the program window. The second option is to click the File menu, then select the Open item. Select an audio file in the window that opens and click on the "Open" button. When the song is loaded, click on the Effect menu, then on Stereo Imagey, then select Center Channel Extractor. The window of the selected plugin will open. In it, you will need to make the appropriate settings, which will be discussed below.

Extract Audio From - here you need to specify the extraction parameter. The voice can come from the center, left or right channel (speaker), or from a subwoofer. There is also the possibility of choosing your own version.

The next option is Frequency Range. Here, specify the range of frequencies the vocalist will reproduce. If you are not familiar with frequencies, just set the value to Male for a male voice or Female - respectively, for a female. To select your own value, click on the Custom item, then specify the initial and final frequency values.
Step 5
In the Center Channel Level option, you can move the slider that determines the voice volume level to the desired value. It is set in decibels (dB), and it is recommended to set the value somewhere in the range from -40 to -50 dB.
Step 6
By changing these settings, you can get a nice "backing track". If the quality still does not suit you, try to manipulate with the settings, especially since there are several more of them than was described. Each song is individual, so the approach here also needs an individual one. By the way, if quality does not play a special role for you, make your life easier - click on the Favorites menu item and select the item with the name Vocal Remove.
