If you use hard disk software in your operating system, you can roughly know how long your hard disk has to live. Such programs show the percentage of disk life. When the parameter reaches 30%, it is worth thinking about prematurely changing the hard drive and copying data to a new disk. But just buying a disc and copying all the information is a long process. For fast and high-quality data transfer, special programs are used.
Necessary
DriveImage XML software
Instructions
Step 1
To perform data transfer, you must create an image of the disk or its partitions. The DriveImage XML utility can do this very well. This program is free to download and is designed for non-commercial use. Install the program on your computer.
Step 2
To create a disk image, you need to run the program, in the main window of which you need to select backup drives to image files. Select the disk or disk partition that you want to back up. Click Next.
Step 3
At the top of the program, click on the yellow folder icon to select where the program will save the future disk image (any device that can accommodate the disk image).
Step 4
Check the box next to Raw mode - the program will make a copy of the entire disk for you. Checking the Split large files checkbox will cause the utility to split large files into parts (this is useful when creating a copy on multiple DVDs). Use the Compression menu to configure file compression. After making changes to all settings, click Next. The procedure for backing up your hard drive will begin.
Step 5
After you finish copying the image to another hard drive or DVD, proceed to unpack the image.
