Studio monitors are acoustic systems designed primarily for detecting recording defects. They are characterized by a perfectly clear and even sound, in which it is quite easy to recognize the sounds of various instruments or voices. They are widely used in the field of sound recording, as they are universal for music of any genre and direction. Today studio monitors are practically the only way to control the quality of audio recordings.

Necessary

  • - A set of cables;
  • - studio monitors.

Instructions

Step 1

Make sure the input voltage selector is set to the correct position.

Step 2

Connect the speaker cables to the amplifier. Be sure to follow the connection rules - plus to plus, minus to minus. Manufacturers usually mark the wires in different colors for convenience. If you come across a set of wires of the same color, pay attention: usually one of them has an inscription that is not on the second.

Step 3

Do not follow these steps if you are having trouble figuring out the polarity of the wires. If the wire is mounted in the wall or you cannot, for any other reason, determine the correspondence of the ends of the wires near the amplifier or speakers, then you can use the method for determining the polarity using a finger battery. You can choose either a new or a slightly dead AA size 1.5V battery.

Step 4

Take a finger-type battery (not necessarily new) and remove the grilles from the speakers of the monitors so you can see in which direction they work. Connect two wires to the speaker terminals. Connect the wires leading to the black terminal to the minus of the battery, and the wires from the red terminal to the plus. Observe the direction of travel of the speaker membrane.

Step 5

Connect the speaker cable to the monitors, which will subsequently connect the speakers to the amplifier. Connect the battery to this cable already from the side of the receiver (amplifier) and reverse the polarity until the diffuser travels in the same direction as in the previous paragraph.

Step 6

Connect the speaker cable wires connected to the positive side of the battery to the red terminal of the amplifier. The remaining wire, respectively, to the black terminal. The monitors are connected correctly if there is no sound interference or dips in low frequencies.

Step 7

For maximum effect, position both studio monitors so that they form an equilateral triangle with the listening point. The ideal distance between objects is 1.5 meters.
