Step 1
Before buying new RAM strips, find out the capabilities of your motherboard and the characteristics of the already installed strips. First, read the instructions for the motherboard. It is recommended to study more detailed information on the official website of the manufacturer of this motherboard model.

Find out the maximum amount of RAM supported by this motherboard. If you can, find out the maximum memory size for each slot.

Install the Speccy program. Run it and go to the "RAM" menu. Examine the meaning of the menu items "Memory slots". It contains information about the number of free slots for installing memory cards.
Step 4
Explore the Memory menu. Check the type of RAM currently installed, its size and clock frequency. Pay attention to the fact that the "DRAM Frequency" item displays the average frequency of all RAM strips.

Purchase the required number of memory sticks of the required size. Disassemble the computer system unit. Remove old strips of RAM, if required.
