Safe reversing is one of the priorities for road safety and a guarantee of reducing the number of accidents. The parking radar is the main driver's assistant when reversing. So how do you properly equip your four-wheeled "friend" with this clever device?
Instructions
Step 1
Before installing the parking sensors, you need to decide what type of radar you want. Parktronics come with and without a display, notifying of an approaching obstacle only with a beeper signal. Also, parking sensors can be subdivided, depending on the number of sensors, which varies from 2 to 8. Depending on the number of sensors, the price of the radar also changes, along with the complexity of its installation.
Step 2
Remember that parking sensors can be installed on both the front (front parking sensors) and rear bumpers (rear parking sensors) of the car. Currently, almost all parktronic detects an obstacle located at a distance of up to 2 meters with fairly high accuracy.
Step 3
Depending on the installation method, parking sensors are divided into mortise and overhead. Inset sensors are the most common in Russia. To install them, drill the required number of holes in the bumper, which is selected for installing the parking sensors. Make the holes with a special tool - a cutter, which is always included in the parking sensors kit.
Step 4
When installing the parking sensors, distribute the parking sensors around the perimeter of the bumper in such a way that they are at an equal distance from each other. This is necessary so that during the operation of the parking sensors there are no dead zones - zones in which the radar "does not see" obstacles. Blind spots can damage your vehicle. Mortise parking sensors have sealed connectors that allow you to disconnect and attach them to the wires. This facilitates their installation and possible replacement in the event of removing and installing the bumper.
Step 5
After you have drilled the required number of holes in the rear bumper, connect the parking sensors to the wires going to the reversing lights. Connect the front parking sensors to the brake light wires. You can also make an additional button to turn off the front parking radar, which is very convenient in case of a long stay in traffic jams.
