The vast majority of users sooner or later face the problem of gaining access to their own computer or laptop. Everyone can forget their password. In such cases, it is customary to either bypass the protection system in order to gain access to the operating system or the entire computer, or to remove the password for the same purpose. In the case of the Windows operating system, this is relatively easy to do, knowing the algorithm of the required operations to restore access.

Instructions
Step 1
First, consider the situation when the password entry window appears immediately after turning on the computer, long before the operating system has finished loading. This so-called Supervisor Password prevents third parties from accessing the entire computer, including BIOS settings.
Step 2
If you know this password, then enter it and press Del to enter BIOS. Find the menu related to protecting your computer, select Change Password, enter your password, and leave the next two lines blank. This will disable Supervisor Password.
Step 3
If you do not know this password, then the only way to remove it is to disassemble the computer. Remove the left cover of the system unit by unscrewing a few screws. To do this, you need a medium-sized Phillips screwdriver.
Step 4
Take a close look at the inside of the computer unit and find a small washer-shaped battery. Remove it from the slot. Find the two contacts that it was attached to and close them with the same screwdriver.
Step 5
Replace the battery, close the cover, and turn on the computer. The above method allows you to mechanically reset the BIOS settings to factory defaults.
Step 6
Now consider the case when you need to access the operating system directly. The method described below is only suitable for Windows XP and earlier operating systems.
Step 7
Restart your computer and press F8 to display a window with a choice of options to continue booting. Select "Windows Safe Mode". Wait a while for the operating system to load and the window for selecting a user to log on appears. Find an account named "Administrator" and sign in with it.
Step 8
Open the User Account Control menu found in Control Panel. Go to the "Manage Another Account" menu. Select the name of the user from whom you want to access the system. Select "Remove Password" and click "Remove".
Step 9
Restart your computer by selecting "Start Windows Normally".
