Instructions

Step 1

Launch MS Word, create a document or open an existing one. The program automatically inserts a page break when the end of one sheet is reached. The format (that is, the size) of such a sheet can be set on the "Page Layout" tab. Find the Page Setup toolbox and click the Size button. In the drop-down list, left-click on the name of the format that suits you.

Step 2

To insert a forced page break in text, click the Insert tab. In the "Pages" block on the toolbar, click on the "Page Break" button - it will be inserted after the cursor, and the text placed to the right of the cursor will be moved to a new sheet. It is also possible to insert a break from the Page Layout tab. In the "Page settings" block, click the "Breaks" button and select the "Page" item in the context menu. With this tool, you can select the point on the sheet from which the break should begin.

Step 3

If you want to prevent any paragraph in the text from breaking when inserting a page break, click the Page Layout tab. In the "Paragraph" block, click on the button with the arrow. You can also select the desired paragraph and click on the selection with the right mouse button. Select the "Paragraph" item in the context menu, and a new dialog box will open. Go to the tab "Position on the page" and set the marker in the "Do not break paragraph" field. Apply the new settings with the OK button.

Step 4

In the event that you need to prevent a page break between two related (for example, by meaning) paragraphs, select them using the mouse or keyboard keys and call the "Paragraph" dialog box again. On the "Position on page" tab, set the marker in the "Stay on next" box. In the Paragraph window, you can also insert a page break before a specific paragraph. To do this, select the paragraph you need and on the same tab “Position on the page” set a marker opposite the field “From a new page”. Click on the OK button.
