A laptop has a whole list of distinctive advantages: it is small, it is an independent computer in one device, it is easy to carry with you and others. However, like any small digital device, a laptop has a very small monitor. Therefore, to watch a movie, it is better to connect another monitor to it.
Instructions
Step 1
Examine the outputs on a laptop. You can find their detailed description in the documentation for the laptop or on the manufacturer's official website. The video outputs are quite massive in size. Typically a laptop has at least one VGA connector. However, it is worth noting that some laptops may have other additional connectors that allow you to connect additional devices using cables.
Step 2
Get a monitor with a VGA connector and an appropriate cable. Connect the monitor to the connector on the laptop using the cable that came with the monitor. If your monitor has a DVI connector, you can connect it using an adapter. These adapters can be purchased at any computer store. If standard inputs are used, then you just need to purchase a standard cable to connect the monitor, but before buying, you should carefully look at the input, which is located exactly on the monitor.
Step 3
Go to your desktop image settings. To do this, right-click on a free area on the desktop and select "Screen Resolution" or "Properties" from the list. You can find the same settings through the "Control Panel" in the "Start" menu. Find the best options. As a rule, when connecting a new device, there may be some distortion on the monitor screen, as there are no drivers, so download the appropriate software.
Step 4
Arrange the display order using the graphical representation of the two monitors in the display settings window. Become familiar with keyboard output controls.
