Correctly adjusted monitor contrast improves image perception and color reproduction. Screens on conventional desktop systems have corresponding keys for customization directly on the display itself, while laptops do not have these buttons.
Instructions
Step 1
Most laptops have corresponding keys on their keyboards that only allow you to adjust the brightness. However, the contrast can be easily changed in the driver settings for the video card built into the laptop.
If the laptop has an Nvidia video card, the display contrast can be adjusted using the driver control panel. To do this, right-click the touchpad (or mouse) on the desktop and select "Nvidia Control Panel".
Step 2
Go to the item "Adjust desktop color settings" using the link on the left side of the program window. Select "Use Nvidia Settings", then adjust the desired level using the slider in the "Contrast" item.
Step 3
If your laptop has an ATI graphics card, first download the latest Catalyst driver. It introduces similar features to Nvidia's Control Panel. Go to the Color tab on the left side of the program screen. Adjust the contrast using the corresponding Contrast slider, and then apply the settings made.
Step 4
For built-in Intel Graphics cards, just select the item "Graphics characteristics" -> "Color settings" in the driver settings, where using the same slider you can adjust the desired brightness and contrast parameters.
Step 5
To change the contrast directly while watching movies or any images, you can use the functions of the application you are using. For example, in the VLC media player, such settings are accessed through the Extended Settings item in the Tools menu of the program. Third-party image viewers also provide a function to configure display settings, which is located in Options - Display Settings (Image Settings).
