If a table is not intended for placement on the Internet, then most often applications from the Microsoft Office suite of office programs are used to create it - the Word word processor or the Excel spreadsheet editor. The latter provides more advanced features for working with tables, therefore, its tools for a beautiful design of tables are described below.
Instructions
Step 1
Use the standard table layout options as a basis for further transformations. To do this, select all the cells of the table and on the "Home" tab open the "Format as Table" drop-down list in the "Styles" group of commands. Choose from over fifty color schemes. In addition, there is also an item "Create a table style", the selection of which opens a panel for creating and adding your own variant to this list.
Step 2
Adjust the appearance of the table after applying the standard layout style to it. To do this, select all the cells in the table again, right-click and select Format Cells from the context menu that appears. This menu duplicates a similar menu that can be found from the Format button in the Cells group on the Home tab.
Step 3
Set the desired line type and width by selecting the desired option in the line type field on the Border tab. Set the color for these lines in the field with the appropriate name ("color"). On the right side of this tab, specify which borders you want to apply this design - inner, outer, bottom, top, etc. You can then select other line types and colors and apply them to the other borders as many times as you want.
Step 4
Set the fill color of the table cells. This must be done by choosing the desired color on the "Fill" tab. By clicking the Fill Methods button, you can set a multicolor fill with a smooth color transition (gradient).
Step 5
Click on the "OK" button and the changes made to the style will be applied to the table.
Step 6
Add custom column styling changes to the finished table based on the data they contain. In the group of commands "Styles" on the tab "Home" there is a drop-down list "Conditional Formatting", which contains options for color gradation of cells according to the specified rules. For example, you can set a rule in which the background of the cell with the smallest values will be red, with the largest - green, and all the rest will have intermediate colors, the shades of which will indicate their position on the scale from minimum to maximum.
