Windows operating systems provide a built-in security system called a firewall. This service helps prevent unwanted processes from running that can lead to system crashes.
Instructions
Step 1
First, make sure Windows Firewall is active for specific local and external networks. Open the start menu. Go to your computer's control panel.

Open the System and Security menu and select Windows Firewall. Click the Use Recommended Settings button if this service is currently disabled.

Now click on the "Advanced Settings" link to be able to fine-tune how the firewall works. In the left part of the working window, find the "Rules for incoming (outgoing) connections" menu and open it.
Step 4
In the "Actions" column, select "Create Rule". Wait for the new dialog menu to start. In the window that opens, select the "For the program" item. Click "Next".
Step 5
If you need to change permissions for a specific application, select the Program Path item and click the Browse button. Now point to the main exe file that launches the custom program. Select it with the left mouse button and click "Open".
Step 6
Proceed to the next step by clicking the Next button. Select the available service options for this application. If you fully trust this program, activate the "Allow connection" item. To prevent the application from going online, select the Block Connection option.
Step 7
For detailed connection settings, select the "Allow secure connection" item. Click "Next". Select the types of networks for which this rule will be active. Click "Next". Enter a name for the rule and click Finish.
Step 8
To terminate the created filter, right-click on its name and select Disable Rule. In this case, the filter itself will not be removed, but only stop working.
