When reinstalling the operating system or changing the disk format from FAT 32 to NTFS, an error may appear when opening folders and files. This often occurs when you try to open a folder that was created in a previous version of Windows.

Step 1
Follow these steps to open the denied folder. Check the folder permissions, you can do it like this: call the context menu on the required folder, select the "Properties" item. Go to the "Security" tab, select the "Groups or users" section, click on the desired username to display the available permissions. In order to open a folder to which access is closed, set the read permission. Then click on the "Apply" button.
Step 2
Log in to the system under the "Administrator" account to gain access to the private folder. Then click on the "Start" button to go to the main menu, select "My Computer". Go to the "Tools" menu, select the "Folder Options" option, go to the "View" tab. Check the box next to "Simple File Sharing", click on the "OK" button.
Step 3
Boot the system using the LiveCD. In the booted operating system, all folders will be available. Open a folder with closed access, copy everything that it contains into a new folder, preferably create it on another disk or even on a USB flash drive.
Step 4
If the folder contains other folders, they can also be locked; new directories must also be created for their contents. Transfer only files from them. Delete all the old folders, and the new ones need to be named differently, in no case do not assign the old names to the new folders. Reboot the system, boot from the hard drive. You should now be able to open a restricted directory.
Step 5
Check your system for viruses, as the folder access error can occur due to viruses such as Virus. VBS. Small.a and others. Check the registry, namely the HKEY LOCAL MACHINE / SOFTWARE / Microsoft / Windows NT / CurrentVersion / Winlogon subkey, the value for the Userinit parameter should be system32 / userinit.exe.
Step 6
Open the disks of your computer in the "Explorer" program, first enable the display of hidden items in the "Folder options". Browse the disks to see if they have an autorun. **** file on them. If you find such a file, delete it and reboot the system.
