Disconnecting the laptop when closing the lid becomes inconvenient if you need to charge the equipment from the USB port. To prevent this from happening, you need to set the correct parameters for the computer.

Instructions

Step 1

Find the laptop battery charging icon in the lower right corner of the screen. It usually looks like a battery (if the computer is connected to the mains, there will be another image of a plug next to it). If there is no icon in the visible symbols, click on the arrow that points up. A panel with hidden icons will open. The desired battery will be visible there.

Step 2

Click the left mouse button on the icon. A window will pop up, where the battery level will be indicated, as well as the laptop power plan you have selected. Without changing anything, pay attention to the very bottom line - "Additional power options". Click on it.

Step 3

In the left pane of the window that opens, select the "Action when the lid is closed" function. Note that the settings you change on this page are automatically applied to all power plans.

Step 4

The system prompts you to choose how to proceed if the laptop is running on AC or battery power. If your computer is constantly connected to the power wire, you can only make changes in the "From the network" column. But it is better to set the same working conditions for both cases.

Step 5

For the laptop to work with the lid closed, refer to the third item in the list, "When the lid is closed." Set "No action required" in both windows. Confirm your choice with the "Save changes" button. Now, when the laptop lid is lowered, it will continue to work normally.

Step 6

Go to the "Change plan settings" tab. Because when the lid is closed, the computer will continue to work in normal mode, it will be affected by the “go to sleep” settings. In this case, it will be impossible, for example, to continue charging any devices from the USB port.

Step 7

If you are more likely to work from the network, disable hibernation in this column by setting "Never" in all three boxes. Now with the power connected, the laptop will always work. If you want the computer to run continuously and on battery power, then in the corresponding column also put down "Never". Save your changes.
