In the Windows operating system, the desktop contains icons for programs, which are basically their launch shortcuts. What makes a label different from other types of pictograms? The presence of a small arrow on them in the lower left corner, which covers part of the image. Not all users are happy with this, and some want to remove such arrows from the labels. To eliminate them, use the instructions below.

Instructions

Step 1

Call the context menu by right-clicking in any area of the desktop that is free of icons, find the "New" item in its lower part and move the pointer over it.

Step 2

In the submenu that appears, select the "Text Document" item by clicking the left mouse button. An icon of a new text file will appear on the desktop, and you will be prompted to rename it immediately. By default, the generated name of the new file is "Text Document.txt", which will be highlighted and the cursor will blink at the end - after the txt extension

Step 3

Press the End key on the keyboard, and then erase with Back space this txt extension, replacing them with reg, then press Enter

Step 4

The system will ask if an action is really necessary. Confirm your choice. Let's get the file "Text document.reg". It is designed to make changes to the Windows registry, which are carried out by the system utility regedit.exe

Step 5

Open the created file for changes by hovering over it and pressing the right mouse button, and in the context menu that appears, select the "Change" item. An editing window will open.

Step 6

Copy the following text as is: REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTlnkfile]

"IsShortCut" ="

"IsNotShortCut" = -

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTpiffile]

"IsShortCut" ="

"IsNotShortCut" = -

Step 7

Save the file by pressing the Ctrl-S key combination or by selecting "File -> Save" from the menu, then close the file by Alt-F4 or click the window close button.

Step 8

To test the changes made, reopen the file as described in step 5 and, after making sure everything is correct, close it.

Step 9

The created file must be launched, or its context menu by right-clicking and selecting the top item "Merge".

Step 10

The system will ask if you really want to add information from this file to the registry. Confirm your choice.

Step 11

Reboot the system for the changes to take effect.
