Creating a bootable USB flash drive is one of the ways to install the OS on a computer that does not have the ability to boot from disk. This setting is relevant for laptops and netbooks that do not have a floppy drive, as well as for computers that have a faulty disc drive. Basically, disk images are in the.iso format, which is supported by all utilities that perform disk burning operations.

Instructions
Step 1
Download the Windows ISO image from the Internet and also download the WinToFlash program.
Step 2
Unpack the image to a folder convenient for you. Run the downloaded program. In the window that appears, select the "Windows Installer to Flash Migration Wizard" menu. Click Next.

Browse to the directory where you unpacked the files from the ISO image. Select the flash drive to which you want to transfer the Windows Installer. The amount of media used must be larger than the size of the image itself. For example, to install Windows 7, you will need at least 4GB Flash-USB.
Step 4
In the next window, agree to the terms of the license agreement and wait until the end of the recording process. The Windows bootable USB drive is ready.
Step 5
Use UNetbootin to create a bootable Linux image. Download the application distribution kit for the operating system used (there are versions for Linux and Windows) and install.
Step 6
Run the program. In the pop-up window, select "Image" and specify the ISO option. Specify the path to the downloaded image, and at the bottom of the window select the type of media used and its name in the system.
Step 7
Click the "OK" button and wait for the end of the disc burning process.
Step 8
To boot from a USB flash drive, you need to make the appropriate settings. When the computer starts up, press the desired keyboard button to start editing BIOS settings. The name of the key is written when the computer boots up at the bottom of the screen. In the First Boot Device menu item, specify USB-Flash. Save your settings, insert the USB stick and restart your computer.
