Updating the Windows operating system to a licensed one, or, in other words, its activation is a necessary step, without which access to the operating system will be limited 30 days after its installation.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare a license key for your copy of the operating system. It is usually located on the back of the disc or listed in a special document in the installation folder. If you want to update an old version of the system to a new one, it is important that it is also licensed, otherwise the update will be refused.
Step 2
Wait for the end of the system installation process. At one of its stages, a field for entering a license key should appear, which must be done to complete the installation. As soon as the system is successfully installed, immediately after restarting the computer, you can proceed directly to the activation process.
Step 3
Pay attention to the lower right corner of the screen. A system activation icon should appear on the taskbar next to the clock. By clicking on it, you will see the number of days remaining to complete the activation. Select "Run Activation Wizard" from the menu and follow the instructions on the screen.
Step 4
Configure your internet connection if possible, as one of the activation methods requires it. Select the wizard item "Activate via the Internet". After that, a special page will open on the official website of Microsoft.
Step 5
Fill out the form and enter your license key. If you fill in all the fields correctly, you will see a message about the successful completion of system activation, and now your OS is fully licensed.
Step 6
Choose the second activation method if you do not have an Internet connection. You will see the Microsoft phone number that you need to call from your cell phone or home phone. After the operator answers, what is your system license key? If all information is correct, a Microsoft representative will also inform you that the activation was completed successfully. In some cases, you may need to perform a few more steps as instructed by the operator.
