It all depends solely on the software installed on the user's computer, as well as on the format of the document that needs to be converted.
Formatting Plain Text Formats
In the case of common formats such as: DOC, DOCX, ODT and others, the conversion process is quite simple. To change the document format, you just need to open the original file, for example, with Microsoft Office Word or WordPad. Then, after the source file is open, you need to select the "File" tab and find the line "Save As". After the window appears, you need to select the required format (in this case TXT) in the "File type" line. There is also another way to convert a source file with a DOC extension to TXT. To do this, you also need to open the file in Microsoft Office Word, select all the text and paste it into Notepad. Notepad is a program installed by default, which means that it is available on absolutely all personal computers. Then you just need to save the file and eventually it will be converted to TXT format.
Formatting PDF to TXT
The situation related to converting data from PDF to TXT is a little more complicated. Converting a file just won't work. In addition, the text in the PDF file cannot be selected, which means that you will have to spend a little time solving this problem. In order to convert text data from PDF to TXT format, you need to download the special Xpdf data package. After a successful download, you need to install it. In order for the conversion to become possible, it is necessary in the command line (located in the "Start" panel), execute a specific command: "pdftotext filename.pdf filename.txt". "Pdftotext" is the command itself that converts information. "Filename.pdf" is directly the name of the initial file to be changed. "Filename.txt" - the name of the final file, that is, the file that will be the result. It is advisable to specify the file name in one word, but you can also use several words, only if they are written together.
