Djvu is a popular format for distributing electronic documents on the web. It is a compilation of scanned images in one file without the possibility of changing the data entered into it. You can use specialized utilities to extract text from a document.
Instructions
Step 1
To recognize djvu and save the contents of the file as text, you need to follow several steps and use two programs. The first program scans the desired document and converts it into an image or pdf file. At the second stage, the received document is recognized in specialized OCR utilities.
Step 2
Install DjView or DjvuOCR on your computer. To do this, find the required utility on the Internet, download it and run the resulting file, and then follow the instructions on the screen.
Step 3
Go to the menu of the installed utility and select "Open djvu" or "Decode DjVu file". Specify the path to the desired document, and then select the appropriate menu to convert it. Specify the path to save the file and select the desired format.
Step 4
Install the ABBYY FineReader utility. It allows you to scan image files, pdf and output them to text in docx, doc, txt and html formats. You can download the utility from the official website of ABBYY.
Step 5
Open the installed FineReader using the shortcut on the desktop or the Start menu. Select "File" - "Open" and specify the path to the resulting pdf file. You can also use the "Open" button on the toolbar.
Step 6
After the program opens the document, click "Scan". Wait until the process of recognizing the desired text and images is completed. Then click the Recognize button on the toolbar to highlight and validate the desired text. In the "Document language" field, if necessary, select the required item.
Step 7
After scanning has been completed, edit the received text on the right side of the program window. If everything is displayed correctly, click on the "Save" button and select the save format, as well as the folder where you would like to place the document. After saving, you can edit the resulting file using any text editor.
