Deleting the Opera browser settings is sometimes necessary when reinstalling the program. You can also delete previous settings to re-create your user-friendly programming interface.
Instructions
Step 1
If the Opera program is uninstalled incorrectly, some of its files remain in the user profile in the system, which, upon subsequent installation, can restore the previous settings.
Step 2
In order to delete the Opera settings, you need to correctly uninstall the program. To do this, click the "Start" button and select "Control Panel". Open the "Add or Remove Programs" item. It is a built-in Windows applet. It will take some time to build the list of installed programs.
Step 3
Find Opera in the general list. Click on the "Remove" button - the browser uninstaller will start. Click to confirm the deletion and "OK".
Step 4
After that, the Opera folder may remain in the Program Files folder, since the program for uninstalling it deletes only the files written in a special log file (event log file). The files that remain were created by Opera after the installation of the program and were not listed in the log file of the uninstaller. Delete this content folder manually by pressing Shift + Delete.
Step 5
Next, you need to delete the settings folder. In Windows XP, these files are stored on the C: / Documents and Settings / [your_account_name] / Application Data / Opera / drive.
Step 6
In Windows Vista and Windows 7, the settings are located on the C: / Users / [your_account_name] / Application Data / Opera / drive. Highlight the Opera folder and press Shift + Delete to permanently delete. Note that this will delete all your bookmarks and passwords, so save them before doing so. You can see the path of the saved Opera settings by going to the "Help" or "About Opera" menu.

After deleting the settings, restart your computer. Download the new version of Opera, which will set the default settings that you can tweak to suit your needs.
