There are many ways to transfer information from one computer to another. Writing to a floppy disk is not the most popular of them, since the medium itself is very unreliable. However, some government organizations still accept electronic documents only on diskettes. A situation may arise when you need to restore some data that was stored on floppy disks for a long time, and then suddenly needed.

Necessary

  • - computer;
  • - floppy disk;
  • - EasyRecovery Professional program;
  • - file manager Total Commander.

Instructions

Step 1

Insert the floppy disk into the floppy drive. Open Total Commander or another similar file manager. At the top of the screen, you will see a window in which you need to set the disk name. Put the letter a. In the worst case, you will see a sign that the disk was not found. In this case, nothing can be restored; the diskette will have to be discarded. With any other option, you can try to restore either the media itself, or at least the information.

Step 2

Even after detecting the drive, the computer may not see the files on it. Perhaps EasyRecovery Professional can help you. Install it and run it. On the left side of the screen, you will see a menu. Select the "Data Recovery" option. In the English version, this will be RawRecovery.

Step 3

Before starting work, the program will offer you to save the data to another disk. You will have to agree with this. It is not worth saving data to a resident disk. Click OK. A new window will appear in front of you. Choose "Floppy Disk A" or just "A". Check the files you want to keep and the partition on your hard drive. This can be done through the "Browse" option.

Step 4

The next step is copying the data. Its program will do without you, since you have already prepared everything. You just have to click the "Finish" button as soon as all the files are in the directory designated for them. Then the program will ask whether it is necessary to save the recovered files for further work. In any case, they have already been copied to disk, so you can answer "Yes" or "No". Close the program and do whatever you want with the files.
